Scrap metal prices in england!?

Question

I just went to my local scrap metal dealers in south london with a load of galvanised steel, and they said they didnt buy steel and i felt like an idiot as it was well heavy carrying it there. is that normal?

.I have a scrap metal biz in Australia, As a rule we dont pay for small amounts that r deliverd to us (under 300kg). If we do pay for this material it is only $50 AUD per tonne, for industrial customers with consistant tonnes we pay up to $120 AUD per tonne

lol.  yea steel isn't worth much.

get aluminium and copper next time.  lead used to be valuable but isn't unless you have a lot, and if you don't have a car it's out of the question

probably they want lead,copper and aluminium the greedy gits! After a quick look it seems most only deal in non ferrous now.
