  1. depending on the era you will be covering, you could have a collage of :

    * famous buildings, landscape, etc. that will immediately reveal the identity of the country eg., the eiffel tower, venice's water ways, the vatican, etc.

    * flags of all the countries

    * traditional dresses of the countries

    * an old era map of europe

    * if you are covering the renaissance period, you could add a lot of art-related stuff - portraits/photos of artists, their famous paintings & sculptures & buildings...

    * some illustrations of the architecture

    hope these help

all the best & have fun

  2. As I was reading your question, an image popped into my mind: a time line that goes in a circle (similar to a snail shell) over the whole cover. At various points along the time line, put a picture of an event or item that relates to the history of Europe. I would keep it simple and not do too many on the cover. Then, on the inside, continue the time line theme based on the topics or eras you are covering. Use the same color yarn or ribbon to make the time line for each page. The other poster had wonderful ideas for events to include.

As far as a title goes, how about...The European Times or Lining Up with Europe.

This sounds like a fun activity. Good luck.
