I'm going to start a scrapbook but I have no idea what I'll need for it.

Please tell me what I'll need to make a scrapbook. It would help to name some brands/stores that I can get them from.

Thank you!

  1. go to a creative memories site, they have a nice package to get you started. build from there.

  2. Is your name Maggie Horgan and do u live in Iowa perhaps?

  3. -You'll need carstock, I LOVE bazzill and Die cuts with a view is also good, it's also called DCWV

    -patterned paper

-Hermafix tab dispenser available at Michael's, AC Moore, JoAnn's, etc,

-I would get a ruler, and exacto knife

-I agree with the other poster you're going to want alphabet stickers. and

Jolee's stickers are awesome, you can get them at Michael's, AC Moore, and JoAnn's

-I also agree on a paper trimmer, it's going to help you make those straight cuts SO much easier!  You can get them at the craft store too.  I like the one from making memories.

-there's a machine, it's not electric, called a Xyron and it turns anything into a sticker, it's sold at all the craft stores.  It takes cartridges which you can buy with a coupon, you just put whatever you want to be a sticker on it, turn the handle and it comes out the other side a sticker!  It's awesome, you can check it out online or at the craft store!

-There's SO many extras out there you can go broke, so take it slow and see what you like, play around with things and take it slow, you can end up spending thousands, trust me on that!

Here's some online sites you can go to for forums, shopping, ideas etc and they are very reliable, I've shopped and dealt with all of them and I've been scrapping for over 7 years:

    twopeasinabucket.com

    scrapbookaddict.com

    creatingkeepsakes.com

    cropperscottage.com

    makingmemories.com

    simplescrapbooks.com

    keepingmemoriesalive.com

    paperaddict.com

    michaels.com

    acmoore.com

You can also check if you have a local scrapbook store.  On the forums, they call them the LSS (local scrapbook store)

QVC also has AWESOME kits and deals! You can't get buys better then they have! You go to their website qvc.com and check under toys and sports and go to creating keepsakes and you'll see tons of things.  The bazzill cardstock the xyron, the kits come with paper, the albums and everything you need for less than you can ever buy separatley.  You can get everything you need in one kit for $25 there and it would cost you over $100 in a store to buy it all separately.  They have SO much there and it's all the new and latest trends!  I would go there first and see if you like anything there and buy from them first.  They also have shows a lot, in August and January they usually do almost a whole day of shows and they're buys are amazing!

i hope I've helped some and didn't overwhelm you too much.  Welcome to the wonderful world of scrapbooking!!

  4. First you need to get a lot of scrapbooking paper. It help to buy it in a block (a big collection of a whole bunch of papers that go together nicely) you can get these at Michael's. A paper cutter is also going to be your best friend, it makes it so much quicker to trim pages and gives you nice straight lines. You also would probably like to get some 'crazy' scissors that leave the cool designs to add a little extra. You're also going to need some type of adhesive, but don't use a glue stick.  Try using a tape runner. It's quick, efficient.

Check out this site for some of those:

I'd also get some letter stickers/ letter stamps so you can create nice titles for your pages. You also need a good scrapbook book if you don't have one yet. Make sure it will fit the purpose that you are scrapbooking for. A lot of other things are up to you.

Jolee's Boutique has some really adorable stickers, and many are 3-d too. Check them out here.

You can find all of these things mentioned at Michaels. This really is your scrapbook, so it's whatever you like, and whatever style you want to make. Good Luck!
