Scrapbooking advice?

Question

I have never made a scrapbook before and I was wondering if it would be cheaper to just buy a kit or to buy individual items of whatever I needed. I don't plan on getting to crazy with it. Also, I was wondering if I should get a kit which kits are the best and are the most plain. I want a plain scrapbook, black cover but most kits come with designs and so forth.

Close to my Heart has several wonderful ways to help you get started.  There are programs that show you step by step how to cut and place your papers to make layouts.  There are papers that are preprinted so that it looks like you have cut and layered and "made" a layout.  Yet all you have to do is adhere your pictures and journal.  They even come with beautiful stickers to add a little extra umph to your page!  There are also paper packs that come with embellishments that coordinate and much, much more.  Go to www.closetomyheart.com to find a consultant near you and/or shop online.

There are many things out there that will help you. Since your new to it you might wanna stick to the kits or pages kits cause I know myself when I first got started I was very overwelmed with buying things one by one, which made it a looooong process for finishing my 1st book. There are the kits out there but like you said most have deisigns on the book which is something your not wanting, but If you do find a kit that with a book that you really like you can always recover the book in black materal. There are page kits also that just include things to make pages, you can get them by theams like Christmas, Love, Marriage, B-days, really just anything. It comes with everything to make the pages, you might need to buy adhesive some dont come with it. Or you can get a page kit that has the pages already made and all you need to do is add pics, and writting. If you get either one if the page kits I listed above you can buy your own album in black so you wont have to cover one or be stuck with one that has a design. There are many places you can get stuff like this at.. Micheals, JoAnns are good starts. Walmart is one as well. There are also many sites that have great info, my favorite is Scrapbook.com. They have forums on there where you can ask ?s and anwser ?s. They have pics of layouts...its really a great site. I hope your book turns out great! Enjoy :)
