Question:

Scrapbooking...?

I scrapbook and I want to find a way to make cool fonts or write things on my scrapbook. I usually use stickers and have recently tried stamps. Stamps are so expensive it seems when i want to use different fonts for different pages. When i print them out on the computer I got the stupid white in the background and it doesn't really match the page.

Any ideas from fellow scrapbookers who know how to do cool lettering/fonts and how to make the page look really good. Thanks for the help!!!

  1. I like to use chipboard letters. You can find decorated chipboard, or "bare" chipboard at craft stores in many sizes. It adds deminsion, and if you decorate them yourself, the colors and patterns are endless. Try using patterned paper on them, or painting them.

  2. If you are interested in digital scrapbooking then you can use the free online design tool at www.photoalbum.com. There is a wide variety of fonts and styles available in the design tool. You can enter your text and control the sizing, spacing, and style for your text. Your text blocks can be positioned, scaled and rotated as you desire.

Text works correctly with background elements and can be layered with other elements on the page.

You can even order high quality printed versions of your scrapbook. Soon you will have the option to create an online "flipbook" of your design for free that you can share with others.

  3. You can a a "cricut" machine and font cartridges which print out the different fonts depending on the cartridge, the machine is pretty expensive though, and the cartridges are around $90 each (that's in Canadian dollars).

  4. You could try embossing, allowing you to use different medium (foil, acrylic, embossing powder, and etc)  for different effect. The another idea would be image transfer paper like t-shirt transfer paper (require heat) or Lazertran (just dip in water, peel your design off, and paste on your scrapbook, the background will be transparent -- no stupid white).

  5. Try printing on colored cardstock. :)

  6. I print w/ my HP Photosmart C5180 onto my cardstock....you can even use different colors or print just the outline of your letters and color them in if you want to personalize it.  BTW - do print on reg. printer paper first - to make sure you have the right size and color (don't want to waste your nice cardstock.

  7. stickers are great. stamps like you said are costly.

so here's so ideas -> foam letters, you can find at like walmart I'm sure. I bought some for a school project, and ended up using them for scrapbooking.

Templates are also nice, reusable which is wonderful.

Another thing, type up whatever word/s on the computer. Print and trace on to tracing paper. The only things is, then you need clear stickies to put the tracing paper down, otherwise white stickies will show through the tracing paper (glue might work also).

And of course there's free hand. Sparkle it up with fabric paint, I use this technique a lot.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

  8. Well i would recommend printing of a really cool font in the right size then on the back of that sheet of paper scibble over it with pencil were the text is on the other side and the flip over and place it were you want and draw aund the text and paint it or whatever to colour it in. Okay i know maybe not the BEST looking but moderately quick but most certainly cheapest by far.
