Question:

Scratched carpet?

I used to have a cat that scratched the carpet upstairs and on the stairs. It now looks really bad and you can see where its been scratched and bits look like they are coming up but you cant actually pull them out (if that makes sense). I know it sounds crazy but I have heard somewhere about shaving the top of the carpet. It make sense as it would remove that layer, but just wondering has anyone done it and does it work? Also would I need to use an electric razor? I know a friend whose dog scratched the bottom of her sofa so where it was hanging down and stringy she used an electric razor and skimmed it along the bottom and it really improved the appearance.

PS. smart alecs dont bother answering lol as dont need to be told to not have pets or get new carpet etc...cheers

  1. I have shaved carpets before to remove scorch marks, but not cat pulls though I have seen what you are talking about and yes it is reallllly hard to describe!  So, I would suggest (seriously) find a spot that is carpeted like wardrobe where no one will notice, get a fork or something to simulate a cat claw and scratch it like a cat and then try to shave it, its the only way to be sure!
