Question:

Scratches on Foreman grill OK?

I noticed some scratches on the cooking surface of my George Foreman grill which is probably 18 mos old. I use a plastic abrasive sponge to clean it. Has anyone else had this happen with the nonstick surface of the Foreman grill? I'm afraid the coating is coming off in my food. It's not peeling off in large sections, just scratches in the raised grill marks.

  1. I had that happen to my old one. I got a new one and the best way I found to clean it is this.

Heat it back up to a low temp.  and pour a glass of water on it and close the lid. Raise the lid and it will all wipe off with a paper towel as the heat and water steams the stuff off.

  2. As one who enjoys eating the coating off Foreman grills, I as one, am not concerned with the consequences of the scratches.

Moreover, we eat pieces of other stuff with our food all the time.  It passes through the body without harm.  The body does not process plastic.  If you were to get some with your food, it would not be a big deal.  Heck,  I watched a kid eat a plastic truck when I was supposed to be attending the nursery at church.
