Screaming Brave in form for capturing the Jockey Club Catering Amateur Riders’ Handicap at Warwick
The Class 6 Jockey Club Catering Amateur Riders’ Handicap will be staged at Warwick over a mile, four furlongs and 134 yards on Monday, 18th June. Competing for the £1,647 prize money is a line-up of thirteen four-year and older runners. Not everyone among the candidates today has raced at the venue and those who did could not come out of the races victorious.
An entry who has broken into the new season very impressively is Screaming Brave, Hunting Lion’s six-year-old brown gelding out of mare, Hana Dee. He captured the seasonal debut by winning the Thomas Sanderson Handicap Hurdle on 3rd June at Fontwell over two miles and two and a half furlongs.
Riding with Marc Goldstein, the six-year-old led the runner up of the race, Warsaw Pact, by 3 ¼ lengths. Parking third in line was Galiotto while the 11/4 favourite of the event, Red Rock, was declared unraced.
Today will be his first try of the season at the race course, the last time that he raced and scored second at Warwick was on 6th December, 2009. The Bet On Toteplacepot At Totesport.Com Juvenile Hurdle was won by Corredor Sun who led the 5/6 favourite runner up by 2 ¾ lengths.
An entry to look out for in terms of improvement during the season itself is Laconicos, Foxhound’s ten-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Thermopylae. He has already raced six times during the season but it was just towards the recent three races that he became reasonably consistent with his performance.
None of the attempts were at Warwick and he started off the season on 4th January in the Betdaq Multiples Handicap at Kempton over a mile and four furlongs.
The race was dominated by Now who yanked the chance away from Laconicos, closing in at a mere neck’s difference.
His second and third attempts of the season saw him finishing fifth and sixth while the remaining three ended with two third positions and a second score.
His most recent race was on 12th June in the DFSK Load Hopper Vans Ryandfsk.Co.UK Handicap at Brighton over a mile and two furlongs.
He concluded the race third behind the winner, Ryedale Lass, who shoved Devon Diva into the runner up’s slot.
