Screen lights up with back drop screen but nothing...

Question

My laptop will turn on and the screen saver that my daughter put on lights up, but it won't let me get on the computer. None of the settings or options pop up. I have tried the crtl atl del and various other combinations to see if it will reset, but nothing, just the screen saver. Any ideas for me? Thanks so very much!
