Screen shot on mac while on dvd?

Question

i want to take a picture of the screen while im watching a dvd to set it as my background. i know if u press shift+command+3 it takes the screen shot but it wont let me do it when i have the dvd on. any help?

You may try this DVD ripper for Mac, it can help you capture screenshot from DVD, it's easy to use and works pretty well for me
