  1. your belt is probably glazed over. Go buy a new one and have it put on. Problem solved.

  2. I've seen someone put barsoap on the belt as it's turning which looked dangerous but cleared it up...

  3. stop being cheap...change your belts!

  4. There are 3 things to consider: first your fan belt could have stretched out that's why it is slipping, making that funny screeching noise; second is maybe one the attachments like the alternator or the A/C compressor could have loosen up thus causing your fan belt to slip and cause that irritating noise; third if the bushing of your car's alternator, A/C compressor or belt tensioner has episodes of getting stuck up or has finally stop to rotate it would likewise cause that noise. Putting lubricant to the belt is not a long term solution it could worsen the problem because if the cause of the problem is the third one you could burn the belt. The principle of the belt and the pulley of your car engine is FRICTION, your belt will work efficiently if there is just enough good friction between the belt and the pulley. Too  much of it would burn the belt and cause that screechy sound and too little of it would cause the belt to slip same thing it would cause that funny irritating sound as well. All you have to do is to eliminate the cause of the problem by trial and error from the easiest to the hardest. I hope this would help you. Tip: Try to change your belt regularly and lubricate the pulley's bushing quarterly, this could help avoid that irritating screeching sound.

  5. grab a new fan belt aye :) this ones happenin to my mums car atm but yeh youll see the change when you put a new one on :)

    catcha

  6. Try tightening you belt or replacing it. if that doesn't fix it apply some siliconelubricantt it is most likely that your belt may be slipping

  7. replace the belt. he used a belt dressing and it only works a day or so usually. by the way if you have a bad pully, or bearing in the pullys the screach will return with the new belt.

  8. Buy a can of WD40 its cheap from any auto shop and spray the belt every few weeks thats the cheapest way out and you can use the wd40 for other things but thats another question .good luck and if you do this yourself keep your fingers away from the belt or youll lose them.

  9. tighten the fan belt - it is loose.

Buy a new fan belt, it has stretched.

    change mechanics - he's a dud

  10. get a cheap can of silicon lubricant.... sometimes a squealing belt means that the rubber is getting dried out and slipping. when they get dried out the tend to be slippery. i dont know if you ahve ever noticed but if u rub your hand on moist rubber, its got alot of friction, but if u you rub you hand on dry rubber, you slide right along.. also, belts will squeal if they are too loose, or too tight, both conditions will make it slip....

  11. Belt dressing really doesn't help this type problem. It justs masks it

for a bit.  Sooner or later, that belt is going to break. Spend the bucks

and have the mechanic diagnose the problem or put a new belt on it.

For the small amount of $$'s to fix it, you'll be glad you did, and so

    will the new owner..
