Screwed Up Windows 2000 and now everything ends in .INK Is there a way to restore or am I screwed?

This is not windows XP and do not have the option to just undo. There was a virus, but once it was removed, every icon shows the Microsoft logo and says INK.

The darn virus was ad-ware actually, and hampered internet and wanted me to buy anti-virus 2009.

Can I get my computer back and running?

Do a repair install with the origional cd, if you still have it.

Try running the system file checker.  Start, Run and type sfc /scannow.  This will find and repair system file problems.  You can also download tweakui  http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/twea...

make sure you download the correct version and follow the installation instructions.  This control panel applet has an option to rebuild the icon cache.
