Question:

Scripts and acting?

i want to practice acting, but i want scripts that are more "professional"...not really professional, more just something that people would use to audition...ive practiced memorizing a paragraph from spider man, but its not like i would go and use it to audition for something, right?

my only problem is that with older play's like shakespeare's, i find its harder to get into character...like...they're old, and it makes me think dark, bland, and unenthusiastic...i know its not true, but any advice with this or good scripts to practice off of?

  1. Okay,

why dont you take an old classic movie or play(I do it all the time) and take a climax scene out of it.

That way they'll take you seriously because your using a classic, but one not to ancient that it's bland.

    My favoriates to use are:

    Cabaret,

    Sweeney Todd (play version)

    Westside story

    Chicago (play version)

    etc!

  2. Try monologues. Go to google and type in free monologues, see what you get. If your a good actress you will be able to get into ANY character. Bland, is how Shakespeare was. If that's not what you want then choose something else for an audition.
