  1. Impossible to answer this question without seeing you play.

The fact that you are a decent goal kicker has no bearing on the position you play. Look at John Eales (ex-Australian captain). He was an outstanding goal kicker & he played lock!!!

The two responses above mine are a load of rubbish!!! Sorry but it's true.......and a couple of the ones below, he says he's a good place kicker, no mention of kicking in open play. So why would that make him a better flyhalf????

  2. 1&2) scrum half

  3. if you are a good kicker i say  fly half

  4. 1) Scrum half in my opinion has a bigger impact in the game. They are the link between the forwards and the backs, they need good vision and obviously great ball handling skills.

    2) You should play Fly half. A good fly half is a great kicker, fast/deceptive, and needs strong defensive skills. A fly half makes key decisions during games, so if you are not already, learn to keep cool under pressure and learn some leadership skills.

  5. fly half...

  6. Hard question to answer alright as Aussie says. Withut seeing you play then very difficult ..

Both positions require a high degree of decision making ..Half has to be able to pass swiftly and have the skill to direct the forwards around the scrum base , rucks and mauls and then has to be able to feed the backs either direction .. Half is more physical as you often get involved in acting as an extra loose forward at times and you need speed off the mark and the ability to spot the gap and look for supports fro your loose forwards ..

Flyhalf , Basically is the driver and director of the game plan or the on field general .. You must be able to read the play and spot where the attacking options are and be able to set up the attacking options as they appear ..Flyhalf requires a kicking game off either foot to gain territory and to clear for territory from pressure situations .. You need a strong and accurate line kicking game as well ..

My suggestion would be for you to have a few games in both positions and get the feel for where you are more comfortable .. Have a word with your coaches and ask them where they see you fitting in best and take it from there ..

  7. you cant really say who has the greatest impact on the game, as each match varies and the players work together.

i think you shoul dplay fly half because its about decision making and knowing where to pass the ball a strong pass is useful for this position and u say tht u have that.

  8. fly half has the biggest impact immediately followed by inside centre (defence reasons) then scum half

you do not have to be a brilliant runner to play fly half although you do need excellent passing and kicking skills. you also need to be able to read the game well.... good vision is as important as pass/kick ability

from what you have said it sounds like you should play at 10
