what is the point of the scrum nowadays in rugby league? Why not just give the ball to the side not offending and maybe save someone sometime in the future becoming a quadraplegic?

  1. Agreed. The scrum in league serves almost no real purpose, and is frankly a bit of a farce...the ball is hardly ever fed in straight. Much simpler and quicker just to give a penalty against the offending side.

  2. Agreed. It slows the game down and is tedious to watch also.

  3. i guess tradition... i love the scrum myself

  4. Rugby without a scrum will be like soccer without a ball.

  5. Yeah..agreed..league scrums are a waste of time. If you want to see a real scrum watch the All Blacks v SA

  6. got to slow down play, if just a restart every time players would be run off their feet, also gives backs on both sides time to reset and align

  7. Sounds like someone who's never played lock!  Seriously, being a forward, I LOVE the scrum, its gives us big guys something to do.  Plus, there are leagues without scrums.

  8. awww....when i saw the question i thought it was time for "Stacks On!"

haha, havent seen that in a while....

  9. I think the idea is to tie up all the forwards in one place, and leave the rest of the field open to the backs to do their thing. Not that it happens very often...

But because it isn't really a contest and noone really pushes, there is little chance of becoming a quaddo

  10. Its just part of the game, scrums require a lot of technique..... you League supporters wouldn't understand! Also it can be used as a device to hide you from smaking your opposite no. in the face.
