  1. Depends on the certifications you have  Open water is one of the must basic ones.

With a lot of certifications, experience, they are a lot of works like:

Commercial diver for making repairs to boats, industrial divers in oil platform, even nuclear diver the one who make repairs inside the water surrounding a nuclear reactor. Doing this require years of experience, certifications, equipment.

Many commercial divers are nautical engineers.

You can become a military diver if you enroll in the marine.

Rescue diver for the Coast Guard. Lots of jobs but you need to have the experience the certifications, pass the exams, medical exams. And pay a lot of money for all courses.

Recreational diving is just a part of the diving industry .

Diving is not appropriate for all people, they are a lot of potential dangers in recreational diving but even a lot more in technical diving. Never assume you can do something when you do not have the proper credentials and training.

  2. You would have to take more courses as well, but you could become a scuba instructor, work for the army/police, rescue and recovery.

  3. At the basic OW level, you could work at an aquarium, cleaning glass. :)

Continue on up the ladder, you could become a Divemaster, or instructor.

Commercial diving school could also provide lots of jobs underwater.

  4. There are many marinas and ship yards that hire divers to inspect and clean the underside of boats and do inspections. Many people also hire divers to find stuff they dropped off a dock or boat (it's very hard sometimes). I also know of alot of volunteer fire departments that like to have a diver around for water emergencies and searches.
