How much does it cost on the cheaper end? also Bangkok scuba cost?

  1. Yes they do because inflation has not hit the Philippines like it has in the U.S. Also, it is more tourist-friendly there so they'll have more options.


  2. They are about the same price as here in the US. You just need to check the exchange rate. Last time I was there it was about 50PHP to a dollar and the cost of an Open water cert is around 18000PHP or around $360US. Just like here you will need to shop around to find the price you like. The biggest problem may be the language unless your instructor speaks english well.

    I am not certain about the current prices in Philippines, for a better answer I would recommend you to check out a Scuba related forum such as the one at http://www.scubuddies.com

    In Thailand you can get a PADI Open Water Diver certifiaction for as low as 8000 - 12000 THB (240 US$ - 360 US$), sometimes the accommodation  might be included in this price. The confined water training is usually done in a pool and the skill session dives are conducted as "real boat dives", good value for money!
