Scuba diving + period = shark bait ?

I've alway wondered ... Can you go scuba diving while your on your period ?

Will it attract sharks ?

The simple answer is no as the amount of blood reaching the water through whatever layers are between you and the water will effectively stop it.

It is especially "no" if you are wearing a dry suit  or the sharks in question are whale sharks or basking sharks

Sharks have highly advanced detectors for "smelling" blood in the water.  Human blood is different than tuna blood which is different than seal blood.  Since humans are not on the menu for sharks, they are not stimulated by human blood.

An overwhelming amount of shark attacks are mistaken identity where the shark is attacking based on visual recognition, and sharks have bad eyesight.
