The current head coach of Fiorentina has gone on to allay any rumours or talks regarding the Viola contesting for the Scudetto, but was glad with the win in the Lega.
Fiorentina have been on an exceptional run of form of late and have been playing splendidly well in the matches in the Lega so far and have also made sure that they are finishing the chances coming at their disposal during matches. The Viola outfit always managed to create chances, but Montella always reiterated on the need to finish the chances that they create during the matches, as it is the chances that you convert that count in the end.
Furthermore, he has also gone on to state that it is heartening to see the fans of the Artemio Franchi outfit harbouring such fantastic dreams, but he also stated that they need to keep themselves grounded and work hard. The young manager went on to comment that they should keep realistic targets but should look to overachieve on them as well.
He was quoted to have said:
“Are we in the running for the Scudetto? It’s wonderful to see the fans dream, but we have to continue growing gradually the way that we are. We mustn’t kid ourselves, though.”
The former head coach of Catania went on to comment on the fervour and the zeal with which his team was playing and remarked that he was extremely happy with the performance by his players, and in particular he lauded their ability to read the matches and different situations during the course of the game.
The Italian went on to state:
“It is good to have ambition and maintain our convictions. We are proving that we know how to interpret matches and only suffered for 10 minutes when we took our foot off the gas. I was glad to see that mentality of wanting the victory at all costs.”
Coach Montella was talking to the press after their victory over Atalanta, who they managed to beat by a margin of three goals with the match finishing at the score line of 4-1. This is the second time in succession that the club has secured victory without the injured Jovetic.
