Se Ri Pak posts bogey-free 67 in second round at Ocean Course
South Korean Se Ri Pak shot a bogey-free 67 in the second round of LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 to improve her position on the leaderboard.
Pak kicked off the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament on Friday, being held at Ocean Course, Incheon, South Korea, with confidence and posted a 70.
However, the South Korean star picked up pace in the second round and capitalised on good weather conditions. She made perfect strokes on almost every hole, posting a bogey-free round.
Pak opened the round by shooting a birdie on the first hole. She then parred the remaining holes on the front nine, brining her score to a 35.
On the back nine, the LPGA titan played more carefully and managed to drain four birdies.
Despite stable weather conditions and calm winds, there were some holes that offered a serious challenge to players, but Pak was one of the few who did not lose control on the greens.
She received a big round of applause from the local crowd after she reeled off two back-to-back birdies on the 10th and 11th hole, solidifying her position on the leaderboard.
Another two straight birdies on the 14th and 15th hole helped her card a total of 67 for the round.
Commentators said that Pak was confident and made the most of crowd support at Incheon.
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen remained the star performer in the first round as she registered a 63 to grab a lead.
Sharing her thoughts at the end of her round on Friday, the Norwegian star said that she is pretty happy after beating all her rivals in the roster, and she is fully fit to keep her momentum
going in the next two rounds.
“Like I said early in the week, I feel like I have some low rounds in me now.  I was 7‑under last week, 9‑under this week.  It's just nice, and some of your feel kind of equals the score you
put on the scorecard,” said Pettersen who is being regarded as one of the hot favourites for the title.
She further said that there were some holes that she found a bit hard to play on, but overall her putting and swing were good enough to help her remain in contention.
