Sea Hawks defeats Dana Hills on Thursday
The Sea Hawks were able to finish Thursday night on their terms as they made a clean sweep over the Dana Hills boys volleyball team.
Not only did they win the match, the Hawks accomplished the win after bagging three back-to-back set in a convincing manner.
The match in which the two teams contested against each other was part of the CIF Southern Section Division l playoffs. With their recent win, the Hawks will now be heading towards the semis of the league matches.
By the time, that the Hawks had started celebrating their well deserved win over Dana Hills the scoreboard read 25-22, 25-20 and 25-19.
The win that the Hawks were able to achieve was a result of a well-coordinated effort between the attack and the defence. However, a player stood prominent on making the Hawks’ offense more formidable. Ryan Mather was able to post a total number of 15 kills
that kept the scoreboard ticking and pressurised Dana Hills throughout the game.
“Ryan Mather was an absolute stud,” Redondo coach Duncan Avery said. “He had a great evening, great vision when he was attacking the ball, he touched a lot of balls on the block. All around, one of his better performances he's had as a Sea Hawk.”
With their recent win, the Sea Hawks have been able to improve their overall number of wins to 28 and 7 losses. In contrast to this, Dana Hill have had 23 wins and 11 losses in all this year so far.
The first set of the match started off with both Dana Hills and the Sea Hawks going in for the kill. For most part of the game, the two teams were almost neck-to-neck with each other. Neither the Sea Hawks nor Dana Hills let the other take dominance for
a long time. However, as the match drew to its close, the Sea Hawks were able to bag the initial set of the game at 25-22.
The second set of the game saw the Sea Hawks take control by securing a lead at 6-2. Dana Hills tried to close in the gap but could not significantly challenge the Sea Hawks, who bagged the second set of the game at 25-20.  
After having won the first two sets, making the third the final set of the game was not hard for the Sea Hawks. They were able to win it at 25-19.
Next in line for the Sea Hawks is a match against the number second ranked Santa Margarita team. Both the teams will meet each other on the coming Saturday.
