Sea Moon is eagerly awaited for the St. Leger at Doncaster this Saturday
Something that has most definitely captivated the attention of the crowds and has not failed in getting the fans frenzied, is the participation of Sea Moon in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster this Saturday.
He is coming in for the Leger straight out form a victory at the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York.
Sea Moon's trainer, Michael Stoute, commented, "He obviously liked the conditions on the Knavesmire - the ground was springy and dead - but it might be very different at Doncaster. We'd be happy if he was in the same shape as at York and the vibes are quite
good”.
Richard Hughes was the one who rode Sea Moon to victory at York and at the Leger it will be jockey Olivier Peslier to build up the chemistry between the colt and himself.
Michael Stoute, trainer for Sea Moon, has sidelined his stable jockey Ryan Moore for this particular race.
It is only the third Leger ride for Peslier who landed the 2010 King George on Harbinger for Stoute but he has an impressive record in the final British Classic of the season.
Before this in 1997, he finished right behind Silver Patriarch on Andre Fabre’s Vertical Speed and then in 1999 he stood third with the Saeed bin Suroor trained Mutafaweq against the winner’s stablemate, Adair.
It is a tough one between idols of horse racing for the £90,000 winner’s prize.
The hot favourites for the bettors in this race are Sea Moon and Seville.
It would be an event for which eleven horses will be kept at the six-day declaration stage, comprising the principal horses Blue Bunting and Sea Moon.
Blue Bunting already has quite a few victories under her belt. These include 1000 Guineas, Irish Oaks and Yorkshire Oaks this season.
Sea Moon, on the other hand, has run only four times but has managed winning the last three, progressing gradually.
There is no point in underestimating the impeding competition even if Sea Moon stands out to be the most famous ride.
The actual drawing line will be defined on Tuesday when the potential will be actually put to test.
There are rain predictions for Tuesday which would become a plus point for the ground and thus a advantage for the horses.
