Sea Moon to take down a tricky line-up in the Hardwicke Stakes for trainer, Michael Stoute
The Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes has brought together a tremendously talented line-up of thirteen, four-year and older runners, who will race at the Ascot on Saturday, 23rd June, over a distance of a mile and four furlongs.
Sir Michael Stoute has celebrated success through the Group 2 before, and today has sent, Sea Moon, to represent him.
Beat Hollow’s four-year-old bay colt broke his maiden on 26th October, 2010, at Yarmouth over at a mile. Sent as the 1 to 5 favourite, the winner finished a length earlier with jockey Ryan Moore guiding him.
He then was the 4 to 6 favourite of a handicap on 11th June at York, and comfortably won over 1 mile, two and one-half furlongs. Once more he was coupled with rider, Ryan Moore.
Finishing the closest was, Flag Officer, while taking up the third position was Waltz Darling.
His very first try in a group race was in the Group 2 Sportingbet.Com Great Voltigeur Stakes on 17th August at York.
Over a distance of 1 mile and four furlongs, the Eva Luna foaled swiftly broke from the gate, and in his first chance dictated his terms on the track.
Riding with Richard Hughes, the winner led the runner up of the race, Al Kazeem, by eight lengths. The 5 to 6 favourite of the race, Seville, finished third in a field of eight.
His next race was the third leg of the English Triple Crown, the Group 1 St. Leger Stakes on 10th September, 2011 at Doncaster, over 1 mile, six and one-half furlongs.
The race was won by, Masked Marvel, as the 2 to 1 favourite of the event but, Sea Moon, settled in third.
On 5th November, 2011 he finished as the runner up of the Grade 1 Breeders’ Cup Turf at Churchill Downs at about a mile and four furlongs.
His 2012 campaign comprises of success in a handicap on 26th May at Goodwood over a mile and four furlongs.
Backing, Sea Moon, up for the race today are the odds of 7 to 2, and he will be guided through the track by Ryan Moore in irons.
He will need to look out for, Aiken, who is unbeaten in six out of the seven races that he has been a part of.
Dunaden has the potential to upset, Sea Moon, and, Red Cadeaux, can prove out to be threatening as well.
