Sea doo XP wont start?

I was un-winterizing my jet skis and i put the batteries in (fully charged) i got one started with no troubles but the other one a 1996 seadoo XP wont even turn over. but when i take the spark plugs out it will turn over as long as i want it to. And if it does turn over when the plugs are in it. it will just do it once and make 1 beep and then stop. so i will try it again but it will just make a humming noise.

Some people say that it could be the starter. i dont know that much about jet skis but it doenst make sence to me that it would turn over with out the plugs and not with them.

If you beleive it is the starter could you tell me how to fix this or at least how to locate it in the ski? Thank you.

  1. Sounds like the cylinders in the engine can't compress. i had this happen when i got water in the engine of my 1995 yamaha waveraider. It also sounds as if the starter might have failed and can't compress the air in the cylinders. The reason it can turn over with the plugs out is because there is no pressure in the cylinder keeping it from turning over. When i got water in the engine of mine, i tried turning it over but water cant compress so it would turn over once and stop.
