I have a 95 seedoo gtx and about and last summer when you gave it throtle it would jump up and then go down to alittle above idle. we tried everthing from cleaning the carborator and changing the fuel filter. nothing seemed to work untill we switched it to reserved instead of normal where it would take all the gas and not leave a reserve tank. and it work fine like nothing was wrong. now this summer we took them out again today still useing the reserve and it started acting up again. any ideas on what it could be. fuel pump, fuel lines, other fuel filters? i have no clue and none of the seadoo dealers will servise them because of there age.

  1. It sounds to me like the fuel pick up is were the problem is.  No telling with out further investigation.

Buy a manual online, first off.  So you can do as much yourself as possible.

You can look up all the parts you need online.

Depending on your model this could be a lot of work.

If this is out of you area find a local guy to do the work.  Where are you at?  We work on this sort of thing all day long.

  2. Have you even purchased a service manual for your PWC yet?  Trying to reach in the dark for a solution and throwing money at it won't help, buy the service manual for your PWC's model and year.

Starting issues and fuel delivery issues are one of the most covered subjects in service manuals...

It could be a combination of fuel delivery problem with your fuel selector switch/fuel tank, or your carb needs a rebuild.  Cleaning a two stroke carb does not necessarily mean you fix all the problems with fuel&oil buildup in it.

If the fuel is 1 year old or older in your PWC and does not have fuel stabilizer, dispose of it properly.  Bad fuel can make diagnosing these problems worse.  Bad fuel also smells like a varnish.

First you need to see if the carb is getting enough fuel with the regular "on" setting.  If it is, then we know the problem is most likely in the carb.

Do you always run the gas out of the carb each time you put the PWC up for the day?  Forgetting to do this allows fuel to gum up your carb and eventually will require a cleaning and rebuild.

Have you tried any other options regarding finding a PWC tech to look at it?  Did you ask around in a major city that has a lot of boat/PWC dealerships and service shops?
