Seabass likely to add another victory to his record at Naas in the Grade 2 Paddypower.com Chase
The Grade 2 Paddypower.com Chase is scheduled to take place at Naas on February, 26th 2012. The track will cover a distance of 2 miles and holds a purse of €30,225.
The 6 runners competing in this race are:
Tranquil Sea,
Saludos,
Seabass,
Jigalo,
Zaarito, and
Gentle Alice.
Tranquil Sea, son of Sea Raven, out of Silver Valley, finished his last race in third-place.
The 10-year-old gelding competed in the Grade 2 Normans Grove Chase, at Fairyhouse, on 22nd January, 2012. He was defeated by Blazing Tempo and Noble Prince.
Saludos, son of Bob Back, out of Katie’s Cracker, finished his last race in 5th place.
Trained by Mrs John Harrington, he could not keep up the pace and tailed off, in the Grade 2 Normans Grove Chase, at Fairyhouse, on 22nd January, 2012.
Seabass has an impeccable race card. He has been finishing first since the last 6 races and shows determination to continue strong.
The 9-year-old gelding is trained by T.M. Walsh and he led the race on 28th January, 2012. He defeated Out Now by 7 ½ lengths, in the Grade A Leopardstown Handicap Chase, held at Leopardstown.
The son of Turtle Island, out of Muscovy Duck, finished first in the last race of 2011. He defeated Tullintain by 2 ¾ lengths, in the Grade B Tim Duggan Memorial Handicap Chase, at Limerick, on 27th December, 2011.
Jigalo, the son of Accordion, out of Kasterlee, finished 4th in his last race. The 11-year-old gelding was leading but then fell the others in the Winter Racing At Dundalk Apprentice Handicap, at Dundalk, on 17th February,
2012.
Zaarito, trained by C. A. Murphy finished in 27th place in his previous race, in a line-up of 30 runners.
The 10-year-gelding could not keep up the pace and was raced in the rear for most of the race, in the Grade B Boylesports.com Hurdle, at Leopardstown, on 28th January, 2012.
Zaarito’s trainer is hoping that the son of Tiraaz, out of Coppenagh Girl, will be able to perform better than he did last time.
Gentle Alice, daughter of Beneficial, out of Dear Polly, finished in 1st place in her previous race.
The 8-year-old mare, trained by Daniel G. Murphy, stayed on well and comfortably secured the victory over Tiernan’s Terror by 11 lengths, in the Netwatch Handicap Chase, at Gowran Park, on 26th January, 2012.
Based on his success with the bookmakers and punters, it looks like Seabass will lead this race. The large bets have given him the status of race favourite with winning odds of 7 to 4. The second place is likely to be secured by Tranquil Sea and the third
place finish may be acquired by Zaarito.
