Would he win the Kentucky Derby.

  1. well no...  when he was 3 and could enter the derby, he was really not a good racehorse at all.  he raced 35 times, winning only 5 races.  Charles Howard bought him too late for Seabiscuit to have become a winner and enter the Derby.  so Seabiscuit couldn't have gotten in to the Derby and even if he could, at that age with his record, the other horses would easily have outrun him.

    If we assume that Seabiscuit could get into the Derby when he was older...  yes, i believe he could win the Derby.  He beat the best older horses in the Santa Anita Handicap and he beat Triple Crown winner War Admiral.  So we know that he had what it takes to handle a good field of horses.

    - an interesting note about the biscuit in the War Admiral match race...  War Admiral ran his fastest race ever in that race...  he wasn't off his form at all...  Seabiscuit just overpowered him and proved to be the better animal
