Seagate or maxtor???

want to purchase 500 gb external hard disk.suggest which is the best seagate or maxtor or suggest any other one.

with minimum 3 year warranty

get Seagate or WD, both give 5 year warranty here in India. Maxtor is done and over so don't go near it.

Seagate is much better than Maxtor. Now Maxtor has come out with a very sleek design for its 1TB external drive . If you are going to buy more than one, Lacie stack type external drives are the best.

I have been using maxtor 500GB external hard disk. Maxtor was taken over by seagate a long time ago. so that doesn't make any difference. 500 GB harddisk are quite bulky and require external power supply, which ever brand you buy. I accidentaly dropped my hard disk and it started producing a beeping sound. Luckily I got it replaced free of cost from seagate for another brand new hard disk [maxtor]. So do not wory about the make of the company. Maxtor is as reliable as Seagate. and belong to Seagate.

Segate is good and WD is also good
