Question:

Seagrass Stair Runner up wood stairs?

Does anyone have seagrass as their stair runner going up wood stairs? I've got a 3 yr old and a pregnant wife and would like to install a runner up our wood stairs for safety reasons. Our house/furniture is what my wife calls "modern rustic" with wood floors on both levels (no carpet anywhere) so the typical runners that are victorian/patterned just wouldn't fit.

  1. Depending on the type and finish you have on your wood, you may need to put a liner or pad underneath it.  Seagrass has a tendenancy to cause surface srcatches on wood flooring.  Often the dust and dirt that works through the fiber acts like sandpaper against the floor when the seagrass fiber grinds against it with daily use.
