Seahawks' safety Kam Chancellor not worried about fouls and penalties – NFL News
Seattle Seahawks’ strong safety Kam Chancellor is not concerned about the fouls and penalties he has received recently for hitting the opponents on head, and said that he is not worried that he would be called a head-hunter.
After the week 10 game against Baltimore Ravens, Chancellor was fined $20,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on wide receiver Anquan Boldin. Last week, he hit St. Louis Rams’ tight end Lance Kendricks and is speculated to have fined
by the league again.
However, when asked by the reporters on Wednesday, he refused to confirm whether he had received the second fine, but maintained that he was not going to change his approach to the game.
“I just turned my head to the side like they asked me to do from the previous week and tried to do it with my shoulder, and when he fell down his head just went into my shoulder," Chancellor said about the hit on Kendricks. "That's
the call that they were looking for to call so that's what happened.”
Chancellor was drafted by Seahawks in the 2010 NFL Draft. He has started nine games this season and has 59 tackles, 1.0 sack and three interruptions to his credit.
He is least bothered by the penalties and is not ready to change his approach towards game saying that it is the only way of play he knows.
“They tell me to stay in the middle of the field and protect the middle. So I’m going to compete like I know how to. Try to hit it as correctly as they want me to,” Chancellor said.
Meanwhile, Seahawks’ coach Pete Carroll has said that he supports the league’s intent to change the rules of the games and never wants anyone to get hurt. However, presenting his stance about the hits, he opined that it was not
easy to control the game-play of players during the game as the momentum is so high.
Seahawks have played 10 games this season and won four of them. With an average of 298.5 yards (203.4 passing yards and 95.1 rushing yards) per game, they are ranked second in the National Football Conference West division.
