Sean Hesketh of Batley Bulldogs suspended for two consecutive games
Sean Hesketh of Batley Bulldogs has been banned for two games after he was proved guilty of the Grade B offence games.
This decision was taken by the Disciplinary Committee of Rugby Football Board (RFB) on Wednesday, August 24.
The suspension of Hesketh was announced in lieu of the late and dangerous tackle performed by Hesketh, during the 79th minute of the clash against the Toulouse Olympique on August 13. The suspension was coupled with a fine of £50
charged by the match review panel from Bulldogs’ prop.
Bulldogs are a Batley-based rugby league club, which is one of the 22 original franchises which formed the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895, and play the Co-operative Championship.
However, Batley’s officials have also asked its fans and supporters to rally around for their presentation  just ahead of the play-off, which is lined up on next Friday, September 2, to show strength and support to their franchise. According to him, this
way the players will get pumped to outperform during the championship fixtures scheduled.
While speaking about commemorating the play-offs, Kevin Nicholas who is chairman of the franchise added, “We have had a brilliant season and look set to finish in our highest league place since 1995. Our support has been brilliant all season, especially
away from home, and it was great to see so many Batley supporters at Sheffield last week. We want to make the presentation night a really big occasion and all the players and their wives will be attending. This is a way of thanking everybody for getting behind
us and to also thank the players for their performances.”
According to the franchise’s chairman, this is a way of grabbing as much support as possible which will really encourage the players just ahead of their lined up play-off.
However, with the suspension decision against the Hesketh taken which ousts him for two consecutive games, Hesketh will be sitting outside Batley’s first play-off fixture, which will be played from September 9 – 11.
Hesketh’s suspension is wrongly timed as the play-off games are very important for the franchises.
