Sean O’Hair dismisses coach Sean Foley after string of poor performances – Golf news
Sean O’Hair will not be working with coach Sean Foley as he is not really on top of his game in the ongoing 2011 season.
O’Hair has been working with Foley since the 2008 RBC Canadian Open but has now decided to look for other options.
In the last five tournaments he played, he has missed the cut. O’Hair is also not going to take part in the Wells Fargo Championship scheduled to take placed this weekend. Even though he does not have O’Hair, Foley is still working with the former number
one player, Tiger Woods.
“He hasn't played well this year,” Foley said. “He told me he's going to go in a different direction. I hope he finds somebody who can help him. He told me he's been seeing some things he didn't like in his swing. As far as I'm concerned, I want the best
for him.”
Foley also said that in 2009 that O’Hair was one of the best players in the world. In 2010, he made 19 out of 25 cuts and even tied for 7th at the Open Championship. He finished the year ranked 43rd in the world and 36th
in the FedEx points list. Being in the top 50 was an honour in itself, but his declining form has pushed him down to being ranked 80th
in the world. O’Hair has also dropped down to 158th in the money list.
It was actually O’Hair who gave Woods Foley’s number as he wanted the two to start a working relationship. Woods has been working on his swing since a long time now. Following his downfall due to his personal crises in 2010, Woods is bent on being the same
old dominant player on the golf course.
Foley said that they have not been working together recently as Woods injured himself in the Masters. Due to a knee injury, the former world number one will not be taking part in the Wells Fargo Championship. Foley is not sure as to whether Woods will take
part in The Players championship or not.
As for O’Hair, having won a title two years ago, hopefully changing mentors will improve his game and take him back to his previous form.
