Sean Ryan named New York Giants’ new quarterbacks’ coach, Kevin M. Gilbride to coach receivers
After the departure of quarterbacks’ coach, Mike Sullivan, to Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New York Giants have filled in the void by assigning the task of coaching the quarterbacks to Sean Ryan, who was serving the franchise as the wide receivers’ coach.
Meanwhile, Giants have also promoted Kevin M. Gilbride to coach wide receivers.
Ryan spent three years as Giants’ offensive quality control coach before being promoted to coach the wide receivers.
He performed that task efficaciously and has now received another promotion.
Giants’ head coach, Tom Coughlin, was pleased with the development and said:
“It’s not that I don’t think there are some talented people out there. But I do think that these two are very talented and the best approach we could possibly take would be to continue to support our players at those positions with people who are products
of the system.”
Coughlin also said that it would be rather easier for these two to start working with the team as they are already a part of the system.
Had someone from the outside was selected, they would have required some time to get used to of the working procedures, he added.
Giants are the defending Super Bowl champions. In the last season, they surged from nowhere to claim the NFL title and the credited goes equally to the players and the coaches.
Quarterback Eli Manning, who earned his second Super Bowl ring, seems to be excited about the new development and hoped to establish good working relations with the new quarterbacks’ coach.
Manning said of Ryan:
“I know we’ll have great communication and a great work ethic. Coach Ryan and I have worked closely together since he was with the receivers. I’m excited about him and I know we’ll have a great relationship. We shouldn’t miss a beat.”
On the other hand, Ryan and Gilbride have expressed delight over the promotions and have vowed to give their best shot to ensure another glorious season for the Giants.
With the coaching staff in place and the issue regarding the impending free agents almost resolved, Giants are now focusing on the upcoming NFL drafts after which they could kick on the preparations for the next season.
