Search engine ranking affected by 'Industry Brains' (Marchex) sponsored links?

Question

Having seen the ranking penalties suffered by websites using TLA (text-link-ads.com) I was wondering if anyone knows if the same applies to sponsored links from 'Industry Brains'.

Industry Brains uses Javascript, and search engines do not read Javascripts

TLA, on the other hand, are hard coded links and Google does not like buying and selling of links to boost pagerank. Hence sites engaged with TLA got hit and slapped with penalties.

Google and Yahoo try to filter out TLA's links. They've also penalized them repeatedly.

I don't recommend buying links from any broker these days. It's too hard to do it and stay out of trouble.

If you have a blog, go comment on others' blogs or link to them from posts and they'll probably link back.

Or try to find some of the less-known link trading networks and use those.
