  1. Are you kidding?  You are, right? Seriously.  "search thingy"?  "thingy"??!! It's called a "search engine". What "blank space" are you talking about?  Just any blank space (not that I know what that is), or perhaps the input line where you put your search? Possibly it's remembering familiar letters to previous searches.  That's considered a good thing.  But here's how you "get rid of it".  You don't stop at one letter.  As soon as you type the 2nd or third letter, if it's a search you haven't done before it'll stop showing the list.  Be sure you're not typing your search in the address line of your browser.  It has to go in the space provided for the search.

  2. get caught looking at p**n, huh ?

  3. your tools tab should have a clear private data option click that and click clear search history.  It ma also be listed under internet options on the tools tab depending on what browser you are using.  No matter what the browser you will find it in the tools tab somewhere.

  4. That will depend on what sort of operating system and browser you use.  You may be able to go to your browser's preferences and turn that function off.  Or you may be able to empty the caches which hold all of that information, but if you do that they will start building up again.

The reason those lists are there is so that you can more easily get back to places that you frequently go, many people find that a convenience.
