Searching: A Book about a Newlywed wife who goes to an Islamic country and interviews Muslim women?

My supervisor suggested the most interesting book, but unfortunately she cannot remember the title. The book is about a newlywed couple who goes to an Islamic country. (My supervisor said that it was probably Afghanistan, but wasn't sure.) The wife lives among the Muslim women and finds out about their lives. She said that it was written a few decades ago, probably around the 1970s. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure if such a woman would be regarded as acting in violation of terms of services and/or community guidelines as perceived by feminists.
