the fact that i can't recall this poem is grating at my nerves. all help would be appreciated.

from what i can remember, the poem is about two lovers who never met. the poem is told in the perspective of a person who is wondering what if the love of their life just walked down a street and he/she turned the corner just as the person walked down that street; henceforth never giving them a chance to meet. what if a bird that their love saw in the morning was also the same bird that he/she saw in the afternoon.

the only other things that i can remember is:

-the poem had an unusually long title

-the poet had three names that did not sound american

i know it would make it easier if i could remember a line in the poem and search for it, but i can't. and i know that isn't much to go by with...

  1. The only thing I can think of that is somewhat similiar is a poem called "You Who Never Arrived" by Rainer Maria Rilke.

If thats not the poem you are thinking of- you should read it anyway. It's beautiful. :)

  2. Don't know the name, but it sounds profoundly aching to read.
