Question:

Searching for an area of a bar (with cocktails) to hire in Picadilly, London?

I am organising a joint birthday party for April / May.

Does anyone know of a good venue in Picadilly, London where you can hire an area of a bar that does cocktails?

Ideally I would like one where you don't have to pay, just agree to spend over a certain amount on drinks.

There will be 40 - 60 people, but if the area can't take that many I could edit the guest list!

Recommendations of good bar listings websites would also be useful if you cannot recommend a specific venue.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  1. I've used MEZA bar in soho (Wardour street) . POP is another good one on Soho street (off Tottenham Court Rd) and another is ZETA bar, Mayfair.

A word of advice: Whatever the bar, you'll have a better chance of free hire if you book on their quiet evenings (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). It'll be hard to find a free hire bar on a Saturday or Friday night for instance, if they know they'll have a full house anyway!

Having said that it depends on what you can guarantee on bar spend - everything's negotiable 'cos they're all money whores!

(glad I got that off my chest)

  2. The Atlantic Bar.

Old fashioned looking place, like you have stepped into a 30s/40s film but fantastic.

It is on Glasshouse street/ road.

I think the website that i saw it on was something like a-z bars london

  3. Jewels is lovely, it's directly at Picadilly Circus, next to Burger King. I don't know about the policies around hiring the venue though.

  4. Try the Pitcher & Piano just off Piccadilly, near Green Park tube station.

  5. Quod on Shaftsbury Avenue is great. It's a 5 min (max!) walk from Piccadilly Circfus tube. They do amazing cocktails and food and have seperate rooms you can hire.

  6. We had our engagement party of about 100 people in Jewel which is right on Piccadilly itself.

The staff were great, the food they did for us was delicious and the cocktails superb.....we booked it through toptable.co.uk who at least don't own a share in the bars themselves.

I think our minimum spend, with late licence was £2,500 which really wasn't too bad for a saturday night in central London with security to stop the uninvited included.

I think in total between 7pm and 1am the spend was approx £6,000 so they bought is drinks at the end of the night.....thoroughly recommend it and suggest you speak to toptable.co.uk or directly to Danny at Jewel.

  7. A REALLY great website for this kind of thing is www.latenightlondon.co.uk - they run On Anon, Sway, Babble, Tiger Tiger and many other bar/restaurants in Central London. They hire out areas of their bars for no charge, they do cocktails as well as other drinks, and they also have a snack menu which you can pre-order if you like... Have had a few events at their venues, and I always have a great time. Hope this helps!!

  8. Tiger Tiger that's always a good one or the Sports Cafe just down the road on Haymarket!

  9. Well, I had a joint birthday with a friend and couldn't find a reasonable place to eat either so me an my friend decided that we wanted to do something not too original. So we went and hired a boat on The Rive Thames. Its really cool you can get yachts and stuff. They also do a catering service with a brilliant disco. It's not very cheap though Soz. Hope this was to help to you.
