I have been searching for this town, but cannot find any maps with it on. It is near Juchique De Ferrer, which is on the map. Even if I can't find a map, any info at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  1. I am from Xalapa, Veracruz, but I'm very familiar with the region of Juchique de Ferrer, because my family used to manage a coffee growing ranch near Plan de las Hayas.

La Gloria is a very small village in the county (municipio) of Juchique de Ferrer, I'd say it has less than 100 people.

The whole county has 120 towns and villages (from the 2005 population census), the principal being the town of Juchique de Ferrer and Plan de Las Hayas, both with a little over 2000 inhabitants each. There are about 11,000 more people living in the other 118 villages.

The people in Juchique de Ferrer work mostly in coffee plantations, they also have some tropical wood forest plantations in the more steep mountain areas, besides the typical cattle (mostly bovine).

There are good paved roads to Plan de Las Hayas and the town of Juchique (a lot of curves though), but there wasn't one to  La Gloria the last time I was there.

I don't think you will be able to find La Gloria on a map, but here's the link to one of the state of Veracruz that's very detailed, and you can download it to your computer.

The coordenates of the village of La Gloria are:

    longitude 19°50'23"

    latitude  096°43'05"

altitude  520 meters above the sea level

Here´s also a link to the municipio of Juchique de Ferrer:

P.S. Don't get confused, there's another town named La Gloria, in the municipio of Ursulo Galván, state of Veracruz, where there's a very large sugar refinary. You can e-mail me if you need any more info.

  2. I live in the state of Veracruz.  I think Juchique de Ferrer is close to  Plan de las Hayas, about an hour and a half up in the mountains from Xalapa.  I found a reference that says it is 5 nautical miles from las Hayas.  The could easily be 25 or 30 miles by the mountain road.  Las hayas is 53 mies from my house, and it takes 2 and a half hrs to get there.   I am trying to tell you that this place is UP in a very REMOTE region.  There are little "towns" up there are that are very difficult to reach, some can only be reached on foot.  If the population  of La Gloria is under 1000, it will not appear on any Veracruz state maps...and I am sure it is less than1000.  I have a friend who was born up there, just tried to call her, but she is out right now.   Do you have a Guia Roji? It is the gold-standard Mexican road atlas.  On p. 29 you will see Xalapa.   Northeast of Xalapa is Plan de las Hayas, then just north of that is Juchique, very near the coast. Do you have any other details at all?  If so , please email me. I will see if  I can talk to my friend and get any more info, then e-mail it to you.
