I am searching for my brother and sister. My father was an American soldier stationed in Germany in the 1960's he met a german girl and they had 2 children, 1 boy and 1 girl. He would never give us any details but we know that he was stationed in or near Hamburg. I know that he used to recieve letters from her but he kept them closely gaurded and we never had an oppertunity to read any of the letters or see the name or address on the envalope. I would like very much to meet this brother and sister, but i have no idea how to locate them with the little information that I have. If anyone can help me with this then please do.

My father was in the UNITED STATES ARMY, he was station in or near HAMBURG, his name is Harold Tester and he was born in NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

If any of this sounds familiar to you or you know a brother and sister in their 40's who may be this mans children then please leave a message here for me with your email add so I can contact you

  1. Probably too little information for a successful search. But it might help a bit if you can find out where exactly your father stayed in germany. The US Army should have at least some information. Also the exact time your father stayed there could be very helpful.

In germany all births must be registered (date, mother, father, etc) at the local city/town administration. Probably your father's girl friend lived close to the army base, so you might continue then asking the officials at several administrations (I think it's not free of charge). There's not much hope and maybe a lot of work, but it's still possible to find your sister and brother this way.

  2. hey there, you can check this website

    www.stayfriends.de

there, many (if not all) German schools are listed. You can search for their names. If you don't know their first names then try the last name (i.e. ur father's)

or even better, write their last name + location (i.e. Hamburg) in this website and search for them

    www.telefonbuch.de

    best of luck

  3. Get in contact with the Red Cross. USA and Germany

    www.redcross.org/where/where.html

    www.drk.de/suchdienst

Put a add in a paper. Many People read the "Hamburger Abendblatt".

    www.hamburger-abendblatt.de

Every birth in Germany has to be registered with the "Standesamt". There you find the names of father and mother. If your father was reported to the Standesamt for being the father of the children, then his name should appear there.

Here is the email adress of Standesamt Hamburg:

    StandesamtHamburg@Hamburg-Mitte.Hambur...

Sometimes also TV stations are helpful, but they would like to put you on a talkshow later. If you would like to try, go to:

    RTL.de or SAT1.de

    Good luck!
