I am organizing a softball game for both offices where I work, one office against the other. I am writing an outlook invitation to all and got stuck. My bosses will supply the beverages, snacks, paper goods, etc but the rest will be all Potluck brought in by the employees. I want to give people ideas of what to bring for food especially since there will not be a barbecue nearby nor electricity to keep food warm. Please share any ideas for food suggestions with me. Thanks!

  1. Have each person responsible for a lunch meat, some others bring cheese, others bring the bread/condiments/chips.

Then it is self serve deli sandwiches with some chips.

Other people have suggested bringing slaw or cold salads, Be very careful with these, they spoil very easily if not refrigerated! I know you don't want to be responsible for giving your co-workers food poisoning or do you?

  2. a salad would be perfect..

and if you agree, you could also have grilled hotdogs with marshmallows.

you may also have different kinds of sandwiches...

  3. cold salads...slaw...potato..ect

boil hot dogs, and bring all the fixing to go with it

    Good luck, and have fun!!

  4. Jeez, have you really not heard of Sterno? Keeps food hot since 50 years ago or more.

  5. Maybe one or two of your co-workers could bring along their gas grills, so you can cook up some burgers and hotdogs.  I see people tote along their big gas grills for picnics all the time.

  6. This cucumber and dill salad is really great on a hot day. Easy to make too:

Amounts suitable for 6 salad servings

    Ingredients:

4 large cucumbers, thinly sliced (no need to peel)

    1 cup white vinegar

    3/4 cup water

    3/4 cup sugar

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 cup fresh dill leaves

Salt and black pepper to taste

    Preparation:

Put the water in a saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat. Add the rest of the ingredients except the cucumber and dill. Heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.

Place the cucumber and dill in a suitable bowl, and pour in the mixture. Pour mixture over cucumbers and dill.

Store covered in refrigerator. Serve cool.
