Question:

Sears Electronics record player help?

I have an old Sears Electronics record player with casseste, radio, and eight track. I don't know what year, but I'm guessing it's pretty old, I got it at Goodwill.

Everything plays fine, its just that it won't let me change speeds. The 33's play normal, but when I put in a 45 record and switch it to 45 speed, it dosen't do anything. The speed stays the same, and plays in slow motion.

By the way, its not run on a belt, its on a 1-drive idler (tire).

  1. Trouble shoot from the most used part, the switch. try cleaning the contact points. its just probably one of those switches that increase the electricity going to the motor, like a dimmer switch. Start there.

    hope this helps
