Sears UltraSoft 800 Water Softener LCD Display...

Question

My discharge hose end froze and water leaked at the water softener end thus spraying water over the timer board. The display was blank. I took the 2 circuit boards out and dried them. It seemed to function o.k. but the display was scrambled allowing me too see small regions of text only. I removed the LCD display from the front cct board and found water staining at one end of the cct boards gold pads(which connect to the rubber strip connected to the actual LCD). I cleaded the staining and rubber pads and now things are worse. How do you align these devices properly to make the LCD work again.
