  1. We sailed on the Paradise last summer and I would say the chances of getting sick are slim to none. You will not be that far out to sea and unless there is a hurricane, the seas by Catalina are not rough. Take along dramamine or meclazine or call your doctor for a seasick patch to wear behind your ear if you are concerned.

  2. Depending on the seas and her sensitivity, she may feel sick, queasy, or just "off."  Make sure she packs motion sickness medicine.  On the ship, it costs a fortune.

  3. I feared that as well before my first cruise, because the motion of smaller boats can make me queasy.

I've cruised twice now (to the Caribbean) and even on the evenings when we could feel the ship slightly rocking, I didn't have a moment of seasickness or discomfort.

Just in case though, she might want to take pills or patch with her. Just having those available, even if she doesn't use them, may help alleviate some of the fear of becoming sick.

Cruising is my favorite way to travel now...I hope y'all have a great trip! ☺

  4. probably not these big ships have stabilizers on that they don't rock about like small boats and if she does get a bit sick they have sea sick pills on the ship .hope she has a fun time

  5. Cruise ship sailing is very smooth, almost unnoticeable.

Most people don’t get sea sick unless they are HIGHLY susceptible to motion sickness, or you hit a nasty storm.

Here are some things you can do to avoid sea sickness.

    Be prepared before you leave:

Get a cabin in the center of the ship. It doesn’t matter whether you have a porthole or not, or whether you are on an upper or lower deck. The port or stern of the ship rocks much more than the center.

Take Dramamine tablets (chewable or less drowsy) just in case.

Starting 1/2 hour before setting sail, keep taking them as directed, until you are sure that you will not get sick after a day or so. They will not work if you start taking them after you feel ill.

Get motion sickness wrist bands. I don’t know how they work, but people swear by them. http://www.biobands.com/

If you feel ill on board:

Stay in the center of the ship and stare at the horizon.

Don’t read or focus on anything close

Don’t eat too heavy or greasy foods. Stick with breads or crackers.

Don’t get drunk. You will be sorry.

The ship doctor can give you a shot for extreme cases of motion sickness. This will cost you, and it is rare that anyone needs this.

I've taken many cruises, and was only ill once. It was during a horrible storm on a very small ship, where even the crew was throwing up. I swore "Never Again" -You pay all that money, and just wish the ship would sink....

  6. It depends where she is going.  The inner passage of Alaska is like a pond.  Going from England to America in the winter would be pretty choppy.  It all depends on the itinerary, the size of the ship, and the location of your cabin.  All variables.

  7. it really depends on ur gf. if she has a weak stomach its possible but if not she should be fine. for the most part u cant feel the boat and shell be havin so much fun shell forget shes on water.

  8. Most people say that they don't get seasick but just to be sure I'd pack some "bonine" it works wonders.. you can find it at any drugstore.
