Season likely to end for Giants’ defensive tackle Will Beatty after eye surgery – NFL News
New York Giants’ defensive tackle Will Beatty is expected to sit out of the field for at least one month or he might miss the rest of the season after undergoing an eye surgery last week, according to reports.
After the loss in the week 11 game of the current season of the National Football League against Philadelphia Eagles, Beatty sensed problem in his right eye. After examination on last Wednesday, it was revealed that he had detached
retina in the eye.
On Thursday, he underwent an eye surgery and missed the week 12 game against New Orleans Saints on Monday. His team might have felt his absence badly as Saints overpowered Giants 49-24 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
Before the surgery the player had hoped that minimum damage would be caused, and prayed that he would be able to appear on the field as soon as possible.
"I'm hoping for the best," he said before the surgery. "It could be a wide range of being out for a few weeks to being out for the season. I'm going for the lesser. But there's nothing I can really do to rehab or anything so I'm
just praying that when he goes (in) it's not that bad."
However, the recent developments might not cheer Beatty and his team. Much to the fans’ dismay, no official word is given yet on Beatty’s injury, but it is expected that he might not be able to play for at least a month. There
are fears that the duration might extend and the injury could prove to be a season-ending one for him.
Beatty was drafted in the 2009 NFL draft by Giants. This is his third season with the franchise where he started all the 10 games before receiving the injury.
At the moment, Giants are competing for the top spot in the National Football Conference East division. They desperately need services of their best players to ensure that they stay ahead of current division leader, Dallas Cowboys,
and ensure the entry into the playoffs.
Giants are ranked second in the division ranking with six victories and four defeats to their credit.
