Seating Arrangements on Holland America?

I have been on one cruise so far with NCL and loved it. But I've heard that Holland America is nice too and I want to try them out. But, when I cruise, I like to be able to do what I want when I want. Does Holland America have a specific time, a specific table, and an assigned group when you eat?

Holland is notorious with assigned dinner

Early dinner seating is between 5:30 to 6:00p.m

Late dinner seating is between 7:30p.m. to 8:00

The 24 hour service is available for dinner between 5 and 10 pm

Happy cruising, we went to Alaska last year with Princess cruise line and its the best trip we have ever taken. You could be open to when you wanted to eat and we also prefered that. Never have to worry about being there at a specific time.

Holland America Line has dinner seating times for the main dining.  I have listed the dinner times below.  If you want to try Holland America and do not want the selected dinner times below then you should travel on the Oosterdam to Mexico during January - April.  Right now HAL is testing the "free style" cruising on this ship.  You will be assigned the Upper or Lower dining room with a time period like 5 - 6 pm and you show up anytime during that hour.  Otherwise all the other ships at this time follow the structure below.

Alaska, Canada/New England, and Hawaii
