I have a large stumpjumper thats just a little small for my torso so Im looking to get a setback seatpost. The only problem is, most seatposts offer max 25mm setback. Does anyone know of a seatpost with more setback BESIDES the Titec El Norte Bent? Thanks!

  1. In my opinion, wrong move!

The seat position should not be a factor in positioning your torso. It is aim at positioning your knee angle in accordance with the pedalling motion. For example, to keep your knee in a straight line with your toes when the pedal is at 6 O'clock.

A proper fitted bike is essential to avoid injury and comfort.

Look for a longer stem for the handle bars, that is a far better solution. If that will not do, a frame change could be the best solution to your problem. I know frames can be expensive, but maybe not as much as you might think. There are some second hand frames that are in very good condition and that could give you a more comfortable and injury free ride.

    Just my opinion.

  2. I had/have your exact same issue.  I have a long torso and shorter inseam so a bike that technically fits my inseam doesn't really fit me in the effective top tube length.

I use a Thomson setback (only 16mm setback though) like others have mentioned and I combined that with a WTB Laser Pro V saddle with Ti rails.  The Ti rails seem to be a little bit longer than others so I'm able to move the seat back more which makes my riding postion much more comfortable.

I bought my Thomson Elite online for $69 but the prices have gone up.  You'll pay in the $90 range now.

  3. The only other layback posts I know are the Thomson Laybacks.  They are very pricey, but if you can find one onsale it would be an awesome upgrade to your stumjumper.  And you can get them in 30.9 (standard specialized seatpost size)

  4. Thompson makes a setback.

I'm not sure how many degrees, as compaired to the titec, but I know it will cost more, weigh less, be stronger, and look a lot better.
