Seattle Mariners' GM Jack Zduriencik denies any effort of bringing in slugger Josh Hamilton
After a row of speculations about Seattle Mariners and star slugger Josh Hamilton’s potential signing a new long term contract, general manager Jack Zduriencik has denied publically and openly rejected all these late rumours.
“You have to be realistic about how you're going to allocate your dollars, Some of these things drag out if you're sitting there waiting on one chip, other chips in front of you might go away you end up with nothing," Zduriencik said.
He added, "There are a lot of great things to like about several of these guys on the market, we're doing our homework, But when you hear what players expect and the years involved, that's a lot to consider. At the end of the day, when you gauge the market, you have to be realistic about where it will end up.”
Though Seattle side is in the process of rebuilding, the GM has also denied all the rumours about any big player’s arrival in the Mariners in this offseason.
Mariners showed little progress in the recent past Major League Baseball season in which they played with slight consistency.
Some said earlier that the Mariners with the amount of progress they made last season, their management will definitely think to bring some of the big names in the league and as soon as several top players filed for free agency this offseason, the Mariners' top management did show little interest to sign good and reliable professionals.
However, now reports are coming in the media that Mariners are sticking with the same roster that played good in the recent season where they all tried their best to achieve desired goals.
On the other hand, the management also told the media that it is still under consideration that they might add some pitching talent instead of batters in the coming days.
Meanwhile, regarding Josh Hamilton and his game, there is no doubt that he is a great player and currently considered one of the very best players in Major League Baseball.
His future is not in danger as many other teams have also shown interest in him and in the coming days, he might get a long term deal with the leading Major League franchise.
