Seattle Mariners’ Brendan Ryan recovering from shoulder problem – MLB News
The Seattle Mariners’ Brendan Ryan is reportedly recovering from a shoulder issue that he has been facing for a while now. On Wednesday, February 29, the shortstop appeared at Peoria, Arizona, to join his team-mates in the training session.
The ongoing Spring Training has attracted huge media attention; thanks to a mix of young and senior players being part of the camp. Ryan’s presence here was seen as a good development and omen for the club as a whole.
For the team manager Eric Wedge, there is some care that the team intends to exercise. Considering the fact that Ryan had some shoulder problem, exerting too much pressure might be counter-productive at this point in time.
"It was nice to see him out there," Wedge said. "That's a tough play on that ball in the hole and he's been swinging the bat well. He's very much ahead of where he was offensively last year and obviously it's a given with regard to what he can do defensively."
Seattle Mariners were the first team to start Spring Training this season. They rapidly gathered pace and are working hard to achieve some decent results. The Mariners will have their Cactus League start scheduled this week on Friday, March 2.
Brendan Ryan’s training session at Peoria generated excitement in the club as he swung his bat for the first time since the time he had sustained injury. That he was in good shape testifies he holds the potential to do something big for the club this season.

But the player does not show much contentment. Assiduous as he is, he thinks he can still get into better shape.
"I still think I can get into better shape because it feels good, it just kind of gets tired," he said of his arm. "But today was a good test. We're going in the right direction."
All things considered, Friday’s game will be a good benchmark to assess how this team goes ahead once the season kicks off. The Mariners will be hard pressed to be a resilient team given the presence of big clubs in the American League.
