Seattle Mariners’ Greg Halman’s funeral scheduled for next week – MLB Update
Greg Halman’s stabbing was one of the most disturbing moments in the history of sporting world and much more worse was the arrest of his younger brother Jason Halman in this case. Although nothing has been confirmed as yet, the Halman family is almost shattered
in the aftermath of this incident.
Halman was said to be the most talented baseball player in Netherlands and his stint with the Seattle Mariners was just a replica of that. A few weeks before being stabbed to death, Halman was on a European Tour, representing Major League Baseball and helping
promote the sport in regions where popularity is not as high as in the United States or other baseball loving countries.
Halman’s love for the sport will be remembered for long as millions of fans in the States as well as in Netherlands continue to be in a state of shock over the death of Greg. His funeral is scheduled to be held in a few days time at Haarlem in The Netherlands,
Halman’s hometown. It is highly anticipated that Jason, who remains to be in police custody, will not be able to attend the funeral.
Baseball coaches in The Netherlands were shocked to learn about Jason’s arrest in relation to this case and asserted that both brothers were inseparable otherwise. While Greg had already proved himself as talent enough for playing in the Majors, Jason was
on his path to prove something similar and this incident will now be a major hurdle in his progression towards the same.
Before the funeral, a memorial gathering, open to public, will be held on Sunday, November 27 at Kinheim gym in Haarlem. Kinheim is a professional team in Dutch Major Leagues, where Greg used to play before making his debut for the Mariners in MLB.
It is the same team for which Jason was playing till the end of this past season, but it remains to be seen what the ballclub’s stance will be once some solution is found out. Initial investigation has revealed that loud music may be a cause of Greg going
downstairs, but there is no concrete solution to back this assertion.
